A B I L L
To amend section 517.30 of the Revised Code to 15
permit a board of township trustees, on its own 16
initiative, to erect a monument commemorating
deceased members of the armed forces and to 17
increase the maximum appropriation for the
monument from $500 to $5,000. 18
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO: 20
Section 1. That section 517.30 of the Revised Code be 22
amended to read as follows: 23
Sec. 517.30. Whenever there is presented to the A board of 32
township trustees, a petition signed by not less than thirty per 34
cent of the electors of such township as shown by the most recent 35
general election held therein, requesting the erection of MAY 37
ERECT a suitable monument to commemorate the soldiers and sailors 39
MEMBERS OF THE ARMED FORCES who died in the service of the United 40
States or of this state, such. THE board may, by a majority 41
vote, MAY appropriate and expend not more than five hundred 43
THOUSAND dollars from the township funds for the purpose of 44
erecting such THE monument, according to plans and specifications 45
furnished or approved by such THE board. 47
Section 2. That existing section 517.30 of the Revised 49
Code is hereby repealed. 50
