A B I L L
To amend section 517.30 of the Revised Code to 16
permit a board of township trustees, on its own 17
initiative, to erect a monument commemorating
deceased members of the armed forces and to 18
increase the maximum appropriation for the
monument from $500 to $5,000. 19
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO: 21
Section 1. That section 517.30 of the Revised Code be 23
amended to read as follows: 24
Sec. 517.30. Whenever there is presented to the A board of 33
township trustees, a petition signed by not less than thirty per 35
cent of the electors of such township as shown by the most recent 36
general election held therein, requesting the erection of MAY 38
ERECT a suitable monument to commemorate the soldiers and sailors 40
MEMBERS OF THE ARMED FORCES who died in the service of the United 41
States or of this state, such. THE board may, by a majority 42
vote, MAY appropriate and expend not more than five hundred 44
THOUSAND dollars from the township funds for the purpose of 45
erecting such THE monument, according to plans and specifications 46
furnished or approved by such THE board. 48
Section 2. That existing section 517.30 of the Revised 50

Code is hereby repealed. 51
