A B I L L
To amend section 517.30 of the Revised Code to 17
permit a board of township trustees, on its own 18
initiative, to erect a monument commemorating
deceased members of the armed forces and to 19
increase the maximum appropriation for the
monument from $500 to $5,000. 20
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO: 22
Section 1. That section 517.30 of the Revised Code be 24
amended to read as follows: 25
Sec. 517.30. Whenever there is presented to the A board of 34
township trustees, a petition signed by not less than thirty per 36
cent of the electors of such township as shown by the most recent 37
general election held therein, requesting the erection of MAY 39
ERECT a suitable monument to commemorate the soldiers and sailors 41
MEMBERS OF THE ARMED FORCES who died in the service of the United 42
States or of this state, such. THE board may, by a majority 43
vote, MAY appropriate and expend not more than five hundred 45
THOUSAND dollars from the township funds for the purpose of 46
erecting such THE monument, according to plans and specifications 47
furnished or approved by such THE board. 49
Section 2. That existing section 517.30 of the Revised 51

Code is hereby repealed. 52
