To enact section 4507.062 of the Revised Code to | 1 |
establish that any applicant for a driver's | 2 |
license, permit, or identification card under | 3 |
twenty-six years of age who is required to | 4 |
register with the Selective Service System is | 5 |
deemed to have given consent for the Bureau of | 6 |
Motor Vehicles to forward the necessary | 7 |
registration information to the Selective Service | 8 |
System and to require the Bureau to submit the | 9 |
applicable information to the Selective Service | 10 |
System. | 11 |
Section 1. That section 4507.062 of the Revised Code be | 12 |
enacted to read as follows: | 13 |
Sec. 4507.062. (A) As used in this section, "license" | 14 |
includes a driver's license, commercial driver's license, | 15 |
temporary instruction permit, or identification card. | 16 |
(B) Any person under twenty-six years of age who is required | 17 |
to register with the selective service system in accordance with | 18 |
the "Military Selective Service Act of 1967," 81 Stat. 100, 50 | 19 |
U.S.C. App. 451 et seq., as amended, upon submission of an | 20 |
application for issuance or renewal of a license is deemed to have | 21 |
given consent for the bureau of motor vehicles to forward to the | 22 |
selective service system the necessary information for such | 23 |
registration. | 24 |
(C) Upon receipt of an application for issuance or renewal of | 25 |
a license from any person under twenty-six years of age who is | 26 |
required to register with the selective service system, the bureau | 27 |
shall forward to the selective service system in an electronic | 28 |
format the personal information necessary for such registration. | 29 |
(D) Every application for a license shall state that | 30 |
submission of the application will serve as the applicant's | 31 |
consent to registration with the selective service system, if so | 32 |
required by federal law. | 33 |
(E) The bureau may accept money from the selective service | 35 |
system to pay any costs that the bureau incurs in implementing | 36 |
this section. | 37 |
Section 2. Section 4507.062 of the Revised Code, as enacted | 38 |
by this act, shall take effect six months after the effective date | 39 |
of this act. | 40 |
