A BILL
To amend sections 507.03 and 507.04 of the Revised 1
Code to require that the township clerk personally 2
attend meetings of the board of township trustees, 3
to set a minimum amount for the township clerk's 4
bond, and to require that township records be kept 5
at the township hall or the board's meeting place.6


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

       Section 1. That sections 507.03 and 507.04 of the Revised 7
Code be amended to read as follows:8

       Sec. 507.03.  The township clerk, before entering upon the 9
discharge of hisofficial duties, shall give a bond, payable to 10
the board of township trustees, with sureties approved by suchthe11
board, and in sucha sum as it determinesdetermined by the board, 12
which sum shall be not less than twenty per cent of the township's 13
annual budget, conditioned for the faithful performance of histhe14
duties asof the office of township clerk. SuchThis bond shall be15
recorded by the clerk, filed with the county treasurer, and 16
carefully preserved.17

       Sec. 507.04. (A) The township clerk shall keep an accurate 18
record of the proceedings of the board of township trustees at all 19
its meetings, and of all its accounts and transactions, including 20
the acceptance of the bonds of township officers. The clerk shall 21
personally attend all meetings of the board unless excused by the 22
board from attending or prevented by the occurrence of an 23
emergency.24

       (B) All public records, including all financial records, of 25
the township shall be kept in the township hall or in the place 26
where the board of township trustees generally holds its meetings.27

       Section 2. That existing sections 507.03 and 507.04 of the 28
Revised Code are hereby repealed.29
