A BILL
To amend section 2501.011 of the Revised Code to add 1
one additional judge for the Fifth District Court 2
of Appeals.3


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

       Section 1. That section 2501.011 of the Revised Code be 4
amended to read as follows:5

       Sec. 2501.011.  (A) Except as otherwise provided in this6
division, thereThere shall be twothree additional judges of the 7
court of appeals of the fifth district, composed of Ashland, 8
Coshocton, Delaware, Fairfield, Guernsey, Holmes, Knox, Licking, 9
Morgan, Morrow, Muskingum, Perry, Richland, Stark, and Tuscarawas 10
counties. From February 11, 2001, through February 10, 2007, there 11
shall be three additional judges of the court of appeals of the 12
fifth district.13

       One of the additional judges of the fifth district court of14
appeals shall be elected at the general election in 1980 for a15
term of six years beginning February 10, 1981. One of the16
additional judges of the fifth district court of appeals shall be17
elected at the general election in 1982 for a term of six years18
beginning February 10, 1983. One of the additional judges of the 19
fifth district court of appeals shall be elected at the general 20
election in 2000 for a term of six years beginning February 11, 21
2001. The two additional judges whose terms begin on February 1022
shall thereafter be elected to hold terms of six years.23

       In the fifth district, any three judges shall comprise the24
court of appeals in the hearing and disposition of cases in25
accordance with any local rules of practice and procedure that may 26
be adopted by the judges of the court.27

       (B) There shall be two additional judges of the court of28
appeals of the sixth district, composed of Erie, Fulton, Huron,29
Lucas, Ottawa, Sandusky, Williams, and Wood counties.30

       One of the additional judges of the sixth district court of31
appeals shall be elected at the general election in 1980 for a32
term of six years beginning February 10, 1981. One of the33
additional judges of the sixth district court of appeals shall be34
elected at the general election in 1990 for a term of six years35
beginning on February 10, 1991. The additional judges shall36
thereafter be elected to hold terms of six years.37

       In the sixth district, any three judges shall comprise the38
court of appeals in the hearing and disposition of cases in39
accordance with any llocal rules of practice and procedure that40
may be adopted by the judges of the court.41

       (C) There shall be one additional judge of the court of 42
appeals of the seventh district, composed of Belmont, Carroll, 43
Columbiana, Harrison, Jefferson, Mahoning, Monroe, and Noble 44
counties.45

       The additional judge shall be elected at the general election 46
in 1996 for a term of six years beginning February 10, 1997. The 47
additional judge thereafter shall be elected to hold terms of six 48
years.49

       In the seventh district, any three judges shall comprise the 50
court of appeals in the hearing and disposition of cases in 51
accordance with any local rules of practice and procedure that may 52
be adopted by the judges of the court.53

       (D) The judges provided for in this section and sections54
2501.012 and 2501.013 of the Revised Code shall exercise the same55
powers and jurisdiction and perform the same duties as the judges56
of the courts of appeals; and shall receive the same compensation, 57
as provided by law, for the judges of the courts of appeals.58

       Section 2. That existing section 2501.011 of the Revised Code 59
is hereby repealed.60
