(B) Except as provided in division
(I) of this section, each | 12 |
application for a driver's license made
by a person who previously | 13 |
held such a license and whose license has
expired not more than | 14 |
two years prior to the date of application,
and who is required | 15 |
under this chapter to give an actual
demonstration of the person's | 16 |
ability to drive, shall be
accompanied by a
fee of three dollars | 17 |
in addition to any other fees. | 18 |
(C) Except as provided in divisions (E) and (I) of this | 19 |
section, each application for a driver's license, or motorcycle | 20 |
operator's
endorsement, or renewal of a driver's license shall be | 21 |
accompanied by a fee of six dollars. Except as provided in | 22 |
division (I) of this section, each application for a
duplicate | 23 |
driver's license shall be accompanied by a fee of two
dollars and | 24 |
fifty cents. The duplicate driver's licenses issued
under this | 25 |
section shall be distributed by the deputy registrar
in accordance | 26 |
with rules adopted by the registrar of motor
vehicles. | 27 |
(F) Neither the registrar nor any deputy registrar shall | 49 |
charge a fee in excess of one dollar and fifty cents for | 50 |
laminating a driver's license, motorized bicycle license, or | 51 |
temporary instruction permit identification cards as
required by | 52 |
sections 4507.13 and
4511.521 of the Revised Code. A
deputy | 53 |
registrar laminating a
driver's license, motorized
bicycle | 54 |
license, or temporary
instruction permit identification cards | 55 |
shall retain the entire amount of the fee
charged
for lamination, | 56 |
less the actual cost to the registrar of
the
laminating materials | 57 |
used for that lamination, as specified in
the contract executed by | 58 |
the bureau for the laminating materials
and laminating equipment. | 59 |
The deputy registrar shall forward the
amount of the cost of the | 60 |
laminating materials to the registrar
for deposit as provided in | 61 |
this section. | 62 |
(G) Except as provided in division (I) of this section and | 63 |
except for the renewal of a driver's license, commencing on | 64 |
October 1, 2003, each transaction described in divisions (A), (B), | 65 |
(C), (D), and (E) of this section shall be accompanied by an | 66 |
additional fee of twelve dollars. A transaction involving the | 67 |
renewal of a driver's license with an expiration date on or after | 68 |
that date shall be accompanied by an additional fee of twelve | 69 |
dollars. The additional fee is for the purpose of defraying the | 70 |
department of public safety's costs associated with the | 71 |
administration and enforcement of the motor vehicle and traffic | 72 |
laws of Ohio. | 73 |
(H) At the time and in the manner provided by section
4503.10 | 74 |
of the Revised Code, the deputy registrar shall transmit
the fees | 75 |
collected under divisions (A), (B), (C), (D), and (E),
those | 76 |
portions of the fees specified in and collected under
division | 77 |
(F), and the additional fee under division (G) of this section to | 78 |
the registrar. The registrar
shall pay two dollars and fifty cents | 79 |
of each fee collected under
divisions
(A), (B), (C), (D), and | 80 |
(E)(1) to (4) of this
section,
and the entire fee collected under | 81 |
division (E)(5)
of this
section, into the state highway safety | 82 |
fund
established in section
4501.06 of the Revised Code, and such | 83 |
fees shall be
used for the
sole purpose of supporting driver | 84 |
licensing activities. The registrar also shall pay the entire fee | 85 |
collected under division (G) of this section into the state | 86 |
highway safety fund created in section 4501.06 of the Revised | 87 |
Code. The
remaining fees collected by the registrar under this | 88 |
section shall
be paid
into the state bureau of motor vehicles fund | 89 |
established
in section 4501.25 of
the Revised Code. | 90 |
If the driver's license, motorized bicycle license, or | 105 |
temporary instruction permit identification card of a
disabled | 106 |
veteran described in division (I) of this
section is
laminated by | 107 |
a deputy registrar who is acting as a deputy
registrar
pursuant to | 108 |
a contract with the registrar that is in
effect on
October 14, | 109 |
1997,
the
disabled veteran
shall be required to pay the
deputy | 110 |
registrar
the lamination fee
provided in division
(F) of this | 111 |
section. If
the driver's license, motorized bicycle license, or | 112 |
temporary instruction permit
identification card of such a | 113 |
disabled veteran is laminated by a
deputy registrar who is acting | 114 |
as a deputy registrar pursuant to a
contract
with the registrar | 115 |
that is executed after
October 14, 1997,
the disabled veteran is | 116 |
not required to pay the
deputy registrar the
lamination fee | 117 |
provided in division (F) of
this
section. | 118 |
Sec. 4507.232. When the registrar of motor vehicles or a | 126 |
deputy registrar issues a temporary instruction permit under this | 127 |
chapter, the registrar or deputy registrar also shall issue to the | 128 |
applicant a sticker or banner that reads
"student driver." When | 129 |
the holder of the temporary instruction permit operates a motor | 130 |
vehicle, the sticker or banner may be displayed on the motor | 131 |
vehicle to inform other motor vehicle operators that the motor | 132 |
vehicle is being operated by a holder of a temporary instruction | 133 |
permit, but such display is not required. | 134 |
