To amend section 3731.12 of the Revised Code to | 1 |
require hotels to provide a bed that is suitable | 2 |
for use with a portable lift in any room that the | 3 |
hotel holds out to be a sleeping room or suite | 4 |
that is accessible to the physically disabled and | 5 |
to direct the state fire marshal to adopt by rule | 6 |
a description of the access and clearance needed | 7 |
for a bed to comply with the requirement. | 8 |
Section 1. That section 3731.12 of the Revised Code be | 9 |
amended to read as follows: | 10 |
Sec. 3731.12. (A) Every transient hotel and extended stay | 11 |
hotel shall provide in each sleeping room or extended stay | 12 |
temporary residence a bed, bunk, cot, or other furniture designed | 13 |
for sleeping for each guest occupying such accommodations. Every | 14 |
hotel shall provide each bed, bunk, cot, or other sleeping place | 15 |
for the use of transient or extended stay guests with pillow slips | 16 |
and under and top sheets. All sheets and pillow slips used on any | 17 |
furniture designed for sleeping shall be white or off-white in | 18 |
color and shall be washed daily if requested by a guest, and all | 19 |
such sheets and pillow slips, after being used by one guest, shall | 20 |
be washed before being used by another guest. | 21 |
(B) All extended stay hotels shall provide furniture adequate | 22 |
for living, eating, cooking, sanitation, and sleeping within each | 23 |
dwelling unit. | 24 |
(C) Except as otherwise specified in division (D) of this | 25 |
section, all residential hotels may, but are not required to, | 26 |
provide furniture adequate for living, eating, cooking, | 27 |
sanitation, and sleeping within each dwelling unit. | 28 |
(D) All residential hotels, upon request of the dwelling unit | 29 |
guest, shall provide furniture adequate for living, eating, | 30 |
cooking, sanitation, and sleeping within each dwelling unit. | 31 |
Residential hotels may charge appropriate additional fees for the | 32 |
provision of any furniture pursuant to this section. | 33 |
(E) Every hotel shall provide in any room the hotel holds out | 34 |
as an accessible sleeping room or suite, at least one bed of a | 35 |
type that is suitable for use with a portable lift that the guest | 36 |
provides. The fire marshal shall adopt by rule a description of | 37 |
the access to the bed and amount of clearance between the floor | 38 |
and the bottom of the bed that is needed in order for a bed to | 39 |
comply with the requirements of this division. | 40 |
Section 2. That existing section 3731.12 of the Revised Code | 41 |
is hereby repealed. | 42 |
