A BILL

To enact section 124.1311 of the Revised Code to 1
grant paid leave to certain state employees so 2
that they may participate in a funeral honors 3
detail at the funeral of a veteran. 4

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

       Section 1. That section 124.1311 of the Revised Code be 5
enacted to read as follows: 6

       Sec. 124.1311. (A) As used in this section: 7

        (1) "Funeral honors detail" means a funeral honors detail as 8
described in the "National Defense Authorization Act of 2003," 116 9
Stat. 2556, 10 U.S.C. 1491. 10

        (2) "State employee" means a state employee who is trained to 11
participate in a funeral honors detail at the funeral of a veteran 12
and who is a retired or active member of the armed forces of the 13
United States or of a reserve component of the armed forces of the 14
United States, including the Ohio national guard. 15

        (B) A state employee is entitled to paid leave for those 16
hours the employee is absent from work in order to participate in 17
a funeral honors detail at the funeral of a veteran. 18

Section 1. That section 124.1311 of the Revised Code be	5
enacted to read as follows:	6

(1) "Funeral honors detail" means a funeral honors detail as	8
described in the "National Defense Authorization Act of 2003," 116	9
Stat. 2556, 10 U.S.C. 1491.	10

(2) "State employee" means a state employee who is trained to	11
participate in a funeral honors detail at the funeral of a veteran	12
