A BILL
To amend section 3113.34 of the Revised Code to 1
increase the marriage license fee to provide 2
additional financial assistance to shelters for 3
victims of domestic violence.4


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

       Section 1. That section 3113.34 of the Revised Code be 5
amended to read as follows:6

       Sec. 3113.34.  In addition to any fee established under 7
section 2101.16 of the Revised Code for the issuance of a marriage 8
license, the probate court shall collect and deposit in the county 9
treasury a fee of seventeentwenty-two dollars for each marriage 10
license issued. This fee, plus the thirty-two-dollar fee collected11
under division (D) of section 2303.201 of the Revised Code as 12
additional costs in each new action or proceeding for annulment, 13
divorce, or dissolution of marriage, shall be retained in a 14
special fund and shall be expended only to provide financial 15
assistance to shelters for victims of domestic violence and only 16
as provided in sections 3113.35 to 3113.39 of the Revised Code.17

       Section 2. That existing section 3113.34 of the Revised Code 18
is hereby repealed.19
