A BILL
To enact section 4503.701 of the Revised Code to 1
create Prince Hall Freemason license plates. 2


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

       Section 1. That section 4503.701 of the Revised Code be 3
enacted to read as follows:4

       Sec. 4503.701.  The owner or lessee of any passenger car, 5
noncommercial motor vehicle, recreational vehicle, or other 6
vehicle of a class approved by the registrar of motor vehicles may 7
apply to the registrar for the registration of the vehicle and 8
issuance of Prince Hall freemason license plates. The application 9
for Prince Hall freemason license plates may be combined with a 10
request for a special reserved license plate under section 4503.40 11
or 4503.42 of the Revised Code. Upon receipt of the completed 12
application and compliance by the applicant with this section, the 13
registrar shall issue to the applicant the appropriate vehicle 14
registration and a set of Prince Hall freemason license plates 15
with a validation sticker or a validation sticker alone when 16
required by section 4503.191 of the Revised Code.17

       In addition to the letters and numbers ordinarily inscribed 18
thereon, Prince Hall freemason license plates shall be inscribed 19
with identifying words and a symbol or logo designed by the Prince 20
Hall grand lodge of free and accepted masons of Ohio and approved 21
by the registrar. Prince Hall freemason license plates shall bear 22
county identification stickers that identify the county of 23
registration by name or number.24

       Prince Hall freemason license plates and validation stickers 25
shall be issued upon payment of the regular license fee required 26
by section 4503.04 of the Revised Code, payment of any local motor 27
vehicle license tax levied under Chapter 4504. of the Revised 28
Code, payment of an additional fee of ten dollars, and compliance 29
with all other applicable laws relating to the registration of 30
motor vehicles. If the application for Prince Hall freemason 31
license plates is combined with a request for a special reserved 32
license plate under section 4503.40 or 4503.42 of the Revised 33
Code, the license plates and validation sticker shall be issued 34
upon payment of the fees and taxes contained in this section and 35
the additional fee prescribed under section 4503.40 or 4503.42 of 36
the Revised Code. The additional fee of ten dollars shall be for 37
the purpose of compensating the bureau of motor vehicles for 38
additional services required in the issuing of Prince Hall 39
freemason license plates, and shall be transmitted by the 40
registrar to the treasurer of state for deposit into the state 41
treasury to the credit of the state bureau of motor vehicles fund 42
created by section 4501.25 of the Revised Code.43
