A BILL
To enact section 5.2266 of the Revised Code to 1
designate October 13 as Metastatic Breast Cancer 2
Awareness Day.3

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

Section 1. That section 5.2266 of the Revised Code be enacted 4
to read as follows:5

Sec. 5.2266. The thirteenth day of October is designated as 6
"Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day" to raise public awareness 7
and understanding of breast cancer that has spread through the 8
bloodstream to other parts of the body.9

Section 2. In declaring October 13 "Metastatic Breast Cancer 10
Awareness Day," the General Assembly recognizes that breast cancer 11
remains the second leading cause of cancer deaths among American 12
women and that the risk of breast cancer may be reduced through 13
healthy lifestyle choices. The General Assembly considers public 14
awareness of this devastating disease to be vitally important to 15
increase early detection and reduce the loss of life to metastatic 16
breast cancer. Further, the General Assembly commends the efforts 17
of Ohio's scientists and health professionals in developing new 18
technologies and treatments for metastatic breast cancer and 19
encourages them to continue these efforts and their search for a 20
cure for this aggressive disease.21
