A BILL
To enact section 5.2266 of the Revised Code to 1
designate September as "Pain Awareness Month."2

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

Section 1. That section 5.2266 of the Revised Code be enacted 3
to read as follows:4

Section 5.2266. The month of September is designated as "Pain 5
Awareness Month" to raise public awareness and understanding of 6
physical pain and pain management.7

Section 2. In declaring September "Pain Awareness Month," the 8
General Assembly recognizes that physical pain affects tens of 9
millions of Americans and that untreated or inadequately treated 10
pain can diminish quality of life and result in economic loss to 11
Ohio through medical expenses, lost wages, reduced productivity, 12
and other costs. The General Assembly considers increasing public 13
awareness of physical pain and promoting access to appropriate 14
pain treatment for all Ohioans vital to reducing suffering and 15
removing barriers to pain-free living.16
