A BILL
To amend section 3773.32 of the Revised Code to 1
exempt amateur boxing, kick boxing, karate, or 2
wrestling events that benefit a charitable 3
organization conducted under the supervision of 4
the fraternal order of police of Ohio or the Ohio 5
association of professional firefighters from 6
regulation by the Ohio Athletics Commission.7


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

       Section 1. That section 3773.32 of the Revised Code be 8
amended to read as follows:9

       Sec. 3773.32.  No person shall promote, sponsor, or conduct a 10
public boxing match or exhibition unless such person is licensed 11
under section 3773.36 of the Revised Code, secures a permit to 12
conduct the match or exhibition under section 3773.38 of the 13
Revised Code, and otherwise complies with sections 3773.31 to 14
3773.57 of the Revised Code.15

       No person shall promote or conduct a professional wrestling 16
match or exhibition unless such person is licensed under section 17
3773.36 of the Revised Code, secures a permit to conduct the match 18
or exhibition under section 3773.38 of the Revised Code, and 19
otherwise complies with applicable provisions of sections 3773.31 20
to 3773.57 of the Revised Code.21

       No person shall participate in a public boxing match or 22
exhibition as a referee, judge, matchmaker, timekeeper, or 23
contestant, or as a manager, trainer, or second of a contestant, 24
unless such person is licensed under section 3773.41 of the 25
Revised Code and otherwise complies with sections 3773.31 to 26
3773.57 of the Revised Code.27

       Sections 3773.31 to 3773.57 of the Revised Code do not apply 28
to any boxing, karate, or wrestling match or exhibition conducted 29
as part of an interscholastic or intercollegiate athletic program, 30
or as part of an amateur athletic program sponsored by or under 31
the supervision of the national amateur athletic union or the 32
American olympic association in which all contestants are amateur 33
boxers, amateur participants in a karate match or exhibition, or 34
amateur wrestlers, or; to any boxing, karate, or wrestling match 35
or exhibition conducted under the supervision or control of the 36
Ohio national guard, the state militia, or reserve officers' 37
associations in which all contestants are members of the guard, 38
militia, or officers' association; or to any amateur boxing, kick 39
boxing, karate, or wrestling event or exhibition conducted under 40
the supervision of the fraternal order of police of Ohio or the 41
Ohio association of professional firefighters, the proceeds of 42
which benefit a charitable organization.43

       Section 2. That existing section 3773.32 of the Revised Code 44
is hereby repealed.45
