A BILL
To amend section 3773.32 of the Revised Code to 1
exempt amateur boxing, kick boxing, karate, or 2
wrestling events that benefit a charitable 3
organization conducted under the supervision of 4
the fraternal order of police of Ohio, the Ohio 5
association of professional firefighters, or the 6
Northern Ohio Fire Fighters from regulation by the 7
Ohio Athletics Commission.8


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

       Section 1. That section 3773.32 of the Revised Code be 9
amended to read as follows:10

       Sec. 3773.32.  No person shall promote, sponsor, or conduct a 11
public boxing match or exhibition unless such person is licensed 12
under section 3773.36 of the Revised Code, secures a permit to 13
conduct the match or exhibition under section 3773.38 of the 14
Revised Code, and otherwise complies with sections 3773.31 to 15
3773.57 of the Revised Code.16

       No person shall promote or conduct a professional wrestling 17
match or exhibition unless such person is licensed under section 18
3773.36 of the Revised Code, secures a permit to conduct the match 19
or exhibition under section 3773.38 of the Revised Code, and 20
otherwise complies with applicable provisions of sections 3773.31 21
to 3773.57 of the Revised Code.22

       No person shall participate in a public boxing match or 23
exhibition as a referee, judge, matchmaker, timekeeper, or 24
contestant, or as a manager, trainer, or second of a contestant, 25
unless such person is licensed under section 3773.41 of the 26
Revised Code and otherwise complies with sections 3773.31 to 27
3773.57 of the Revised Code.28

       Sections 3773.31 to 3773.57 of the Revised Code do not apply 29
to any boxing, karate, or wrestling match or exhibition conducted 30
as part of an interscholastic or intercollegiate athletic program, 31
or as part of an amateur athletic program sponsored by or under 32
the supervision of the national amateur athletic union or the 33
American olympic association in which all contestants are amateur 34
boxers, amateur participants in a karate match or exhibition, or 35
amateur wrestlers, or; to any boxing, karate, or wrestling match 36
or exhibition conducted under the supervision or control of the 37
Ohio national guard, the state militia, or reserve officers' 38
associations in which all contestants are members of the guard, 39
militia, or officers' association; or to any amateur boxing, kick 40
boxing, karate, or wrestling event or exhibition conducted under 41
the supervision of the fraternal order of police of Ohio, the Ohio 42
association of professional firefighters, or the northern Ohio 43
fire fighters, the proceeds of which benefit a charitable 44
organization that is exempt from federal income taxation under 45
subsection 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or a charitable 46
organization that the fraternal order of police of Ohio, the Ohio 47
association of professional firefighters, or the northern Ohio 48
fire fighters supported before the effective date of this 49
amendment.50

       Section 2. That existing section 3773.32 of the Revised Code 51
is hereby repealed.52
