A BILL
To enact section 5.2267 of the Revised Code to 1
designate September as "Pain Awareness Month."2

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

Section 1. That section 5.2267 of the Revised Code be enacted 3
to read as follows:4

Section 5.2267. The month of September is designated as "Pain 5
Awareness Month" to raise public awareness and understanding of 6
physical pain and pain management.7

Section 2. In declaring September "Pain Awareness Month" by 8
the enactment of section 5.2267 of the Revised Code, the General 9
Assembly recognizes that physical pain affects tens of millions of 10
Americans and that untreated or inadequately treated pain can 11
diminish quality of life and result in economic loss to Ohio 12
through medical expenses, lost wages, reduced productivity, and 13
other costs. The General Assembly considers increasing public 14
awareness of physical pain and promoting access to appropriate 15
pain treatment for all Ohioans vital to reducing suffering and 16
removing barriers to pain-free living.17
