A BILL
To enact section 5.2266 of the Revised Code to 1
designate October 13 as Metastatic Breast Cancer 2
Awareness Day.3

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

Section 1. That section 5.2266 of the Revised Code be enacted 4
to read as follows:5

Sec. 5.2266. The thirteenth day of October is designated as 6
"Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day" to raise public awareness 7
and understanding of breast cancer that has spread through the 8
bloodstream to other parts of the body.9

Section 2. In designating October 13 "Metastatic Breast 10
Cancer Awareness Day," the General Assembly recognizes that breast 11
cancer remains the second leading cause of cancer deaths among 12
American women and that the risk of breast cancer may be reduced 13
through healthy lifestyle choices. The General Assembly considers 14
public awareness of this devastating disease to be vitally 15
important to increase early detection and reduce the loss of life 16
to metastatic breast cancer. Further, the General Assembly 17
commends the efforts of Ohio's scientists and health professionals 18
in developing new technologies and treatments for metastatic 19
breast cancer and encourages them to continue these efforts and 20
their search for a cure for this aggressive disease.21
