A BILL

To enact section 4503.732 of the Revised Code to

create the "Birthplace of Superman" license plate.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

Section 1.  That section 4503.732 of the Revised Code be	3
enacted to read as follows:	4

Sec. 4503.732.  The owner or lessee of any passenger car,	5
noncommercial motor vehicle, recreational vehicle, or other	6
vehicle of a class approved by the registrar of motor vehicles may	7
apply to the registrar for the registration of the vehicle and	8
issuance of "Birthplace of Superman" license plates. The	9
application may be combined with a request for a special reserved	10
license plate under section 4503.40 or 4503.42 of the Revised	11
Code. Upon receipt of an application for registration of a motor	12
vehicle under this section, the registrar shall issue to the	13
applicant the appropriate motor vehicle registration and a set of	14
"Birthplace of Superman" license plates and a validation sticker,	15
or a validation sticker alone when required by section 4503.191 of	16
the Revised Code.	17

In addition to the letters and numbers ordinarily inscribed	18
on the license plates, "Birthplace of Superman" license plates	19
shall be inscribed with the words "Ohio - Birthplace of Superman"	20
and a design, logo, or marking selected by the entity that owns	21
the superman name. The registrar shall approve the final design	22
after entering into a license agreement with that entity for	23
appropriate use of the superman name and associated logo or	24
marking, as applicable. The license plates shall bear county	25
identification stickers that identify the county of registration	26
by name or number.	27

The license plates and validation stickers shall be issued	28
without the payment of any registration fee and service fee	29
required by sections 4503.04, 4503.10, and 4503.102 of the Revised	30
Code and without the payment of any local motor vehicle license	31
tax levied under Chapter 4504. of the Revised Code. The applicant	32
shall comply with all other applicable laws relating to the	33
registration of motor vehicles. If the application is combined	34
with a request for a special reserved license plate under section	35
4503.40 or 4503.42 of the Revised Code, the license plates and	36
validation sticker shall be issued upon payment of the additional	37
fee prescribed under section 4503.40 or 4503.42 of the Revised	38
Code.	39
