A BILL
To enact sections 101.273, 103.30, and 141.012 of the 1
Revised Code to decrease by 5% the salaries of 2
General Assembly members and of the statewide 3
elected executive officers until certain increases 4
occur in the Gross Domestic Product of Ohio.5


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

       Section 1. That sections 101.273, 103.30, and 141.012 of the 6
Revised Code be enacted to read as follows:7

       Sec. 101.273. (A) Beginning on the effective date of this 8
section and subject to Section 31 of Article II, Ohio 9
Constitution, the salaries of the officers and members of the 10
general assembly specified in section 101.27 of the Revised Code 11
shall be decreased by five per cent.12

       (B) Division (A) of this section applies only until the gross 13
domestic product of this state calculated and published under 14
section 103.30 of the Revised Code increases by not less than two 15
and one-half per cent per calendar year for two out of three 16
consecutive calendar years.17

       Sec. 103.30. Not later than the first day of June of each 18
odd-numbered year, the legislative service commission shall 19
calculate and publish the increase or decrease in the gross 20
domestic product of this state in chained 2000 dollars for the 21
two-year period ending on the immediately preceding thirty-first 22
day of December. The commission also shall calculate and publish 23
the increase or decrease for each calendar year of that two-year 24
period.25

       Sec. 141.012. (A) Beginning on the effective date of this 26
section and subject to Section 19 of Article III, Ohio 27
Constitution, the salaries of the governor, lieutenant governor, 28
secretary of state, auditor of state, treasurer of state, and 29
attorney general listed in section 141.011 of the Revised Code 30
shall be decreased by five per cent.31

       (B) Division (A) of this section applies only until the gross 32
domestic product of this state calculated and published under 33
section 103.30 of the Revised Code increases by not less than two 34
and one-half per cent per year for two out of three consecutive 35
calendar years.36
