and 5533.98 of the Revised Code to permit the | 4 |
Director of Transportation to designate portions | 5 |
of state highways as memorial highways in honor of | 6 |
each State Highway Patrol trooper who is or has | 7 |
been killed in the line of duty, and to designate | 8 |
a number of memorial highways. | 9 |
Section 1. That section 5533.051 be amended and sections | 10 |
5501.313, 5533.182, 5533.183, 5533.221, 5533.542, 5533.725, | 11 |
5533.755, 5533.831, 5533.832, 5533.921, and 5533.98 of the Revised | 12 |
Code be enacted to read as follows: | 13 |
Sec. 5501.313. (A) The director of transportation, in | 14 |
consultation with the director of public safety and the | 15 |
superintendent of the state highway patrol, may designate portions | 16 |
of state highways that are located outside of municipal | 17 |
corporations, with each portion not exceeding twenty miles in | 18 |
length, as a separate memorial highway in honor of each state | 19 |
highway patrol trooper who is or has been killed in the line of | 20 |
duty. | 21 |
(B) In acting under this section, the director of | 22 |
transportation may designate a portion of a state highway that is | 23 |
located outside of a municipal corporation that has been given a | 24 |
designation in Chapter 5533. of the Revised Code, and if the | 25 |
director does so that portion shall have both names. If the | 26 |
director designates any such portion under this section and that | 27 |
portion subsequently is given a designation in Chapter 5533. of | 28 |
the Revised Code, that portion shall have both names unless the | 29 |
designation in Chapter 5533. of the Revised Code expressly | 30 |
provides otherwise. | 31 |
(C) Upon a designation made under this section, the director | 32 |
of transportation may erect suitable markers along the state | 33 |
highway indicating its name. | 34 |
Sec. 5533.051. In addition to the designations of the road | 35 |
known as United States route twenty-three in section 5533.05 of | 36 |
the Revised Code, the portion of that road running in a north and | 37 |
south direction, commencing at the boundary of Franklin and | 38 |
Delaware counties and extending to the municipal corporation of | 39 |
Delaware, and also the portion of that road located in Scioto | 40 |
county, from mile marker number three to mile marker number ten, | 41 |
shall be known as the "Branch Rickey Memorial Highway." | 42 |
The director of transportation may erect suitable markers | 43 |
along each designated portion of the highway indicating its name. | 44 |
Sec. 5533.182. The road known as state route one hundred | 45 |
one, running in a northeasterly and southwesterly direction | 46 |
between the municipal corporations of Castalia and Sandusky in | 47 |
Erie county only, shall be known as the "Sfc. Charles L. Adkins | 48 |
Memorial Highway." | 49 |
The director of transportation may erect suitable markers | 50 |
along the highway indicating its name. | 51 |
Sec. 5533.183. The road known as United States route two | 52 |
hundred fifty, running in a northwesterly and southeasterly | 53 |
direction through the municipal corporation of Sandusky only, | 54 |
shall be known as the "Specialist Charles E. Odums II Memorial | 55 |
Highway." | 56 |
The director of transportation may erect suitable markers | 57 |
along the highway indicating its name. | 58 |
Sec. 5533.221. That portion of the road known as state route | 59 |
number one hundred four, running in a northerly and southerly | 60 |
direction within Ross county only, between the intersection of | 61 |
that state route and Williamsport pike in the north and the | 62 |
intersection of that state route and Pennyroyal road in the south, | 63 |
shall be known as the "David A. Gibson Memorial Highway." | 64 |
The director of transportation may erect suitable markers | 65 |
along the highway indicating its name. | 66 |
Sec. 5533.542. That portion of the road known as state route | 67 |
number six hundred seventy-six, from mile marker number twenty-two | 68 |
to mile marker twenty-three, in Washington county only, shall be | 69 |
known as the "U.S. Army Specialist Allen Nolan Memorial Highway." | 70 |
The director of transportation may erect suitable markers | 71 |
along the highway indicating its name. | 72 |
Sec. 5533.725. That portion of the road known as state route | 73 |
seven hundred twenty-five, commencing at the intersection of that | 74 |
road and Heincke road in the municipal corporation of Miamisburg | 75 |
and extending in an easterly direction to the intersection of that | 76 |
road and state route seven hundred forty-one, in Montgomery county | 77 |
only, shall be known as the "Marine Corporal Paul W. Zanowick II | 78 |
Memorial Highway." | 79 |
The director of transportation may erect suitable markers | 80 |
along the highway indicating its name. | 81 |
Sec. 5533.755. That portion of the road known as state route | 82 |
fifty-five, running in an easterly direction between the municipal | 83 |
corporations of Troy and Casstown in Miami county, shall be known | 84 |
as the "Pfc. Jeffrey L. Rice Memorial Highway." | 85 |
The director of transportation may erect suitable markers | 86 |
along the highway indicating its name. | 87 |
Sec. 5533.831. That portion of state route fifty-two located | 88 |
in southern Scioto county between mile marker number seventeen and | 89 |
mile marker number nineteen shall be known as the "Boone Coleman | 90 |
Memorial Highway." | 91 |
The director of transportation may erect suitable markers | 92 |
along the highway indicating its name. | 93 |
Sec. 5533.832. That portion of the road known as state route | 94 |
number thirteen, commencing at the intersection of that route with | 95 |
Cassell road in Knox county and proceeding in a northerly | 96 |
direction to the intersection of that route with Zolman road, | 97 |
shall be known as the "Bill Burgett Highway." | 98 |
The director of transportation may erect suitable markers | 99 |
along the highway indicating its name. | 100 |
Sec. 5533.921. In addition to the designation in section | 101 |
5533.92 of the Revised Code, the road known as state route number | 102 |
two, located in Cuyahoga county and also known as the Cleveland | 103 |
memorial shoreway, commencing at Lake avenue and extending in an | 104 |
easterly direction to the point at which the road crosses the | 105 |
Cuyahoga river, shall be known as the "Governor Richard F. Celeste | 106 |
Shoreway." | 107 |
The director of transportation may erect suitable markers | 108 |
along the highway indicating its name. | 109 |
Sec. 5533.98. In addition to any other name prescribed in | 110 |
the Revised Code or otherwise, that portion of the highway known | 111 |
as state route one hundred twenty-eight, commencing at the | 112 |
intersection of that route and United States route number | 113 |
twenty-seven and proceeding in a northeasterly direction to the | 114 |
intersection of that route and New London road in the municipal | 115 |
corporation of Hamilton, shall be known as the "Cpl. Nicholas H. | 116 |
Olivas Memorial Highway." | 117 |
The director of transportation may erect suitable markers | 118 |
along the highway indicating its name. | 119 |
Section 2. That existing section 5533.051 of the Revised Code | 120 |
is hereby repealed. | 121 |
