A BILL
To create the Gender Pay Disparity Task Force.1


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

       Section 1. (A) There is hereby created the Gender Pay 2
Disparity Task Force consisting of the following members:3

        (1) A member of the House of Representatives appointed by the 4
Speaker of the House of Representatives;5

        (2) A member of the House of Representatives appointed by the 6
Minority Leader of the House of Representatives;7

        (3) A member of the Senate appointed by the President of the 8
Senate;9

        (4) A member of the Senate appointed by the Minority Leader 10
of the Senate;11

        (5) A member who is licensed to practice law in the state and 12
who specializes in the field of labor law appointed by the 13
Governor;14

        (6) A member who represents business interests appointed by 15
the Governor;16

        (7) A member who represents Ohio women's organizations 17
appointed by the Governor.18

        (B) At least four members of the Task Force shall be women.19

       (C) Members of the Task Force shall be appointed not later 20
than thirty days after the effective date of this section. Any 21
vacancy in the membership of the Task Force shall be filled in the 22
same manner as the original appointment. Members of the Task Force 23
shall serve without compensation. The staff of the Legislative 24
Service Commission shall provide technical and administrative 25
support as needed by the Task Force.26

        (D) The Task Force shall hold its initial meeting not later 27
than thirty days after the last member of the Task Force is 28
appointed. The Task Force shall elect a chairperson during the 29
initial meeting of the Task Force. All subsequent meetings of the 30
Task Force shall be held at the call of the chairperson.31

        (E) The Task Force shall do all of the following:32

       (1) Determine the extent of the pay disparity between men and 33
women in Ohio;34

       (2) Identify the causes of such disparity;35

        (3) Develop recommendations for legislative action to 36
decrease the pay disparity between men and women in Ohio;37

       (4) Not later than six months after the effective date of 38
this section, issue a report of its findings and recommendations 39
to the Governor, the President of the Senate, and the Speaker of 40
the House of Representatives.41

       (F) Upon issuance of the report described in division (E)(4) 42
of this section, the Task Force shall cease to exist.43
