A BILL
To amend section 102.99 and to enact section 102.10 1
of the Revised Code to prohibit Ohio statewide 2
elective officers from receiving compensation 3
while in office from any entity.4


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

       Section 1.  That section 102.99 be amended and section 102.10 5
of the Revised Code be enacted to read as follows:6

       Sec. 102.10.  (A) As used in this section:7

       "Compensation" does not include retirement or pension 8
benefits or the annual salary to which an elective officer of the 9
state is entitled.10

        "Elective officer of the state" means the governor, 11
lieutenant governor, attorney general, secretary of state, 12
treasurer of state, and auditor of state.13

       (B) No elective officer of the state shall receive 14
compensation while in office from any entity, including, but not 15
limited to, an entity seeking state funds.16

       Sec. 102.99.  (A) Whoever violates division (C) of section 17
102.02 or division (C) of section 102.031 of the Revised Code is 18
guilty of a misdemeanor of the fourth degree.19

       (B) Whoever violates division (D) of section 102.02 or 20
section 102.021, 102.03, 102.04, or 102.07, or 102.10 of the 21
Revised Code is guilty of a misdemeanor of the first degree.22

       Section 2.  That existing section 102.99 of the Revised Code 23
is hereby repealed.24
