To enact new section 3301.0718 and to repeal section | 1 |
3301.0718 of the Revised Code to require the State | 2 |
Board of Education to adopt national health | 3 |
education standards or to develop its own health | 4 |
education standards based on the national | 5 |
standards for grades kindergarten through twelve. | 6 |
Section 1. That new section 3301.0718 of the Revised Code be | 7 |
enacted to read as follows: | 8 |
Sec. 3301.0718. (A) Not later than July 1, 2013, the state | 9 |
board of education shall adopt either of the following for the | 10 |
purposes of health education in grades kindergarten through | 11 |
twelve: | 12 |
(1) The most recent health education standards developed by | 13 |
the American association for health education; | 14 |
(2) Health education standards developed and prescribed by | 15 |
the state board itself. Standards developed by the state board | 16 |
under this division shall be based upon the national standards | 17 |
prescribed in division (A)(1) of this section. | 18 |
(B) The department of education shall provide the adopted | 19 |
standards, and any revisions to the standards, to all school | 20 |
districts, community schools established under Chapter 3314., STEM | 21 |
schools established under Chapter 3326., and college-preparatory | 22 |
boarding schools established under Chapter 3328. of the Revised | 23 |
Code. Any school or district may utilize the standards. | 24 |
Section 2. That section 3301.0718 of the Revised Code is | 25 |
hereby repealed. | 26 |
