Section 1. That section 3711.30 of the Revised Code be | 4 |
enacted to read as follows: | 5 |
Sec. 3711.30. (A)(1) In accordance with rules adopted by the | 6 |
director of health, each maternity unit, newborn care nursery, and | 7 |
maternity home shall report to the department of health the number | 8 |
of newborns born to residents of this state in the unit, nursery, | 9 |
or home during the preceding calendar quarter that were diagnosed | 10 |
with neonatal abstinence syndrome or an other similar condition | 11 |
indicating the newborn's addiction to or dependence on drugs at | 12 |
birth. | 13 |
(2) Each unit, nursery, or home shall report the information | 14 |
specified in division (A)(1) of this section to the department not | 15 |
later than thirty days after the end of each quarter. | 16 |
(B) The director shall prescribe a form for reports made | 17 |
under this section and procedures for their submission and | 18 |
collection. The form shall not request or include | 19 |
patient-identifying information for any newborn or mother. The | 20 |
director may adopt rules, in accordance with Chapter 119. of the | 21 |
Revised Code as necessary to administer this section. | 22 |
(C) The department shall compile and summarize the | 23 |
information submitted to the department by units, nurseries, and | 24 |
homes under division (A) of this section. The department shall | 25 |
make a report of that information available to the public not | 26 |
later than ninety days after the end of each calendar year. | 27 |
