A BILL

To enact section 5902.10 of the Revised Code to

require the Director of Veterans Services to

notify the Governor when an Ohio resident who is a

3

member of the armed forces has been killed by

4

hostile fire, and to require the Governor to order

5

state and subdivision flags to be flown at

6

half-staff on the day of the individual's funeral.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

Section 1.  That section 5902.10 of the Revised Code be	9
enacted to read as follows:	10

Sec. 5902.10.  The director of veterans services shall notify	11
the governor whenever the director becomes aware that an Ohio	12
resident who is a member of the armed forces of the United States	13
or the national guard has been killed by hostile fire. Upon	14
receipt of such a notice, the governor shall order that the United	15
States flag, the state flag, and any relevant military flag be	16
flown at half-staff on the day of the service member's funeral at	17
the statehouse and at any other state building, facility, or	18
installation otherwise displaying such a flag and at the	19
courthouse or principal government building and any other	20
building, facility, or installation of any political subdivision	21
otherwise displaying such a flag.	22
