Section 1. It is the General Assembly's intent that sections | 3 |
of the Revised Code be amended, enacted, or repealed to rescind | 4 |
the adoption of the Common Core Initiative academic standards as | 5 |
the state's primary and secondary academic content standards in | 6 |
English language arts and mathematics and to replace them with | 7 |
academic content standards that have been proven and tested and | 8 |
will ensure the maintenance of local control over the | 9 |
implementation and use of the standards. The new academic | 10 |
standards and assessments will not be dependent or related to | 11 |
federal control but, instead, will be state-driven and incorporate | 12 |
participation by parents, teachers, and school districts in their | 13 |
development. Further, the assessments shall be administered in a | 14 |
manner that ensures that student data privacy is protected. | 15 |
