To amend section 5533.977 and to enact sections | 1 |

5533.545 of the Revised Code to designate four new | 3 |
memorial highways in Butler, Hamilton, and Warren | 4 |
counties; to revise a memorial highway | 5 |
designation; to designate a portion of State Route | 6 |
264 within the city of Cincinnati as the "Elder | 7 |
High School Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway"; to | 8 |
authorize the Director of Transportation to erect | 9 |
suitable markers along the highway indicating its | 10 |
name; and to authorize Elder High School, subject | 11 |
to approval by the Director, to erect auxiliary | 12 |
markers on a periodic basis indicating the name of | 13 |
one of the eleven Elder High School graduates who | 14 |
died during the Vietnam conflict. | 15 |
Section 1. That section 5533.977 be amended and sections | 16 |
5533.471, 5533.542, 5533.543, 5533.544, and 5533.545 of the | 17 |
Revised Code be enacted to read as follows: | 18 |
Sec. 5533.471. (A) That portion of state route number two | 19 |
hundred sixty-four located within the city of Cincinnati and also | 20 |
known as Glenway avenue, commencing at the intersection of that | 21 |
route and Gilsey avenue and extending in an easterly direction to | 22 |
the intersection of that route with Beech avenue, shall be known | 23 |
as the "Elder High School Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway." | 24 |
(B) The director of transportation may erect suitable markers | 25 |
along the highway indicating its name. | 26 |
(C) Subject to approval by the director in relation to the | 27 |
marker size, color, format, and method of placement, elder high | 28 |
school may erect auxiliary markers in conjunction with the markers | 29 |
erected by the director under division (B) of this section, | 30 |
bearing one of the following names: | 31 |
(1) "Navy Commander Leonard Frederick Vogt, Jr."; | 32 |
(2) "Air Force Captain Albert Francis Sayer, Jr."; | 33 |
(3) "Marine Corps Sergeant Thomas Patrick Kindt"; | 34 |
(4) "Army Specialist Five Robert James Oates"; | 35 |
(5) "Army Corporal Donald Lawrence Schnee"; | 36 |
(6) "Marine Corps Corporal David Raymond Caruso"; | 37 |
(7) "Army Private First Class Michael Lee Faulkner"; | 38 |
(8) "Marine Corps Private First Class Michael Francis Huwel"; | 39 |
(9) "Army Private First Class Paul Patrick Davis"; | 40 |
(10) "Marine Corps Corporal William Francis Reiter"; | 41 |
(11) "Marine Corps Lance Corporal Michael Robert Witt." | 42 |
Elder high school may alternate the approved auxiliary | 43 |
markers on a periodic basis. | 44 |
Sec. 5533.542. That portion of the road known as state route | 45 |
number one hundred twenty-two, commencing at the intersection of | 46 |
that route and Atrium boulevard within the municipal corporation | 47 |
of Middletown and proceeding in an easterly direction to the | 48 |
intersection of that route and Wilson farms boulevard within | 49 |
Franklin township within Warren county only, shall be known as the | 50 |
"Capt. Bartt D. Owens Memorial Highway." | 51 |
The director of transportation may erect suitable markers | 52 |
along the highway indicating its name. | 53 |
Sec. 5533.543. In addition to any other name prescribed in | 54 |
the Revised Code or otherwise, that portion of the road known as | 55 |
interstate route number seventy-one, commencing at mile marker | 56 |
number fifteen and proceeding in a northerly direction to mile | 57 |
marker number seventeen within Hamilton county only, shall be | 58 |
known as the "Spc. Donald S. "Scott" Morrison Memorial Highway." | 59 |
The director of transportation may erect suitable markers | 60 |
along the highway indicating its name. | 61 |
Sec. 5533.544. That portion of the road known as Tylersville | 62 |
road, commencing at the intersection of that road and interstate | 63 |
route number seventy-five in Butler county and proceeding in an | 64 |
easterly direction to the boundary of Butler and Warren counties, | 65 |
shall be known as the "Spc. Michael B. Cook, Jr. Memorial | 66 |
Highway." | 67 |
The director of transportation may erect suitable markers | 68 |
along the highway indicating its name. | 69 |
Sec. 5533.545. The portion of the road known as south fair | 70 |
avenue south of state route number one hundred twenty-nine and as | 71 |
north fair avenue north of that state route, commencing at the | 72 |
intersection of south fair avenue and hancock avenue and | 73 |
proceeding in a northerly direction to the intersection of north | 74 |
fair avenue and state route number four in the municipal | 75 |
corporation of Hamilton in Butler county, shall be known as the | 76 |
"Sgt. Charles J. Webb Memorial Highway." | 77 |
The director of transportation may erect suitable markers | 78 |
along the highway indicating its name. | 79 |
Sec. 5533.977. In addition to any other name prescribed in | 80 |
the Revised Code or otherwise, that portion of the highway known | 81 |
as United States route number forty-two, commencing at the | 82 |
intersection of that route and Butler Warren road and proceeding | 83 |
in a northeasterly direction to the intersection of that route and | 84 |

road in Warren county only, shall be known as the "SFC William B. | 86 |
Woods, Jr. Memorial Highway." | 87 |
The director of transportation may erect suitable markers | 88 |
along the highway indicating its name. | 89 |
Section 2. That existing section 5533.977 of the Revised Code | 90 |
is hereby repealed. | 91 |
