A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
Designating May 5, 2009 as Teachers Day and May 3-9, 1
2009 as Teachers Week in Ohio.2


BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF OHIO
(THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING):


       WHEREAS,  The members of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio 3
are pleased to declare May 5, 2009 as Teachers Day and May 3-9, 4
2009 as Teachers Week in Ohio; and5

       WHEREAS,  Motivated by a deep concern for young people, 6
teachers bring insight, expertise, and ability to the important 7
work of guiding young minds. These skillful and patient 8
instructors encourage students to develop their knowledge and 9
interests and strive to instill within them an appreciation of the 10
importance of education that will benefit them throughout their 11
lives; and12

       WHEREAS,  Teachers work tirelessly to channel the natural 13
energy and curiosity of youth into meaningful inquiry, thereby 14
helping them gain a better understanding of the complex world 15
around them. These remarkable individuals not only instruct their 16
current students but also establish a solid foundation for 17
succeeding generations, and their work stands as the hallmark of 18
concerned and responsible citizenship; and19

       WHEREAS,  Education is vital to our nation's continued social 20
and economic well-being, and as the need for global learning and 21
understanding increases, so do the demands placed upon our system 22
of education and its professionals. For their commitment to 23
guiding young minds and to bettering the community, teachers are 24
certainly deserving of special recognition and tremendous praise; 25
therefore be it26

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the 128th General Assembly 27
of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, designate May 5, 2009 as 28
Teachers Day and May 3-9, 2009 as Teachers Week in Ohio; and be it 29
further30

       RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the Senate transmit duly 31
authenticated copies of this Resolution to the news media of Ohio.32
