WHEREAS, Throughout long hours of practice and preparation, | 8 |
the members of the Ohio University marching band have displayed | 9 |
exceptional musical ability, remarkable confidence, and tremendous | 10 |
discipline, and consequently, they have been invited to take part | 11 |
in the Tournament of Roses Parade. Under the capable guidance of | 12 |
their director, this talented group of students has become known | 13 |
as one of the finest bands in Ohio, and they are deserving of high | 14 |
praise; and | 15 |
WHEREAS, Participation in a school band provides a unique | 16 |
opportunity for students to develop their musical skills and to | 17 |
enjoy a special camaraderie while learning the true value of | 18 |
perseverance and cooperation. Over the years, the Ohio University | 19 |
marching band has excelled in its endeavors, and all those who | 20 |
have been involved with the program are to be commended for their | 21 |
exemplary performances; and | 22 |
WHEREAS, Music is an integral component of our heritage, | 23 |
helping people to communicate across national, cultural, and | 24 |
social barriers, as well as uniting performers and audiences in a | 25 |
meaningful, shared experience. The members of the Ohio University | 26 |
marching band have imparted the richness and beauty of music to | 27 |
citizens throughout the area, and they have set an example worthy | 28 |
