A RESOLUTION
Honoring the Ohio University marching band on being 1
selected to perform in the 2010 Tournament of 2
Roses Parade.3

       WHEREAS,  The members of the Senate of the 128th General 4
Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the Ohio University 5
marching band on being chosen to perform in the 2010 Tournament of 6
Roses Parade; and7

       WHEREAS,  Throughout long hours of practice and preparation, 8
the members of the Ohio University marching band have displayed 9
exceptional musical ability, remarkable confidence, and tremendous 10
discipline, and consequently, they have been invited to take part 11
in the Tournament of Roses Parade. Under the capable guidance of 12
their director, this talented group of students has become known 13
as one of the finest bands in Ohio, and they are deserving of high 14
praise; and15

       WHEREAS,  Participation in a school band provides a unique 16
opportunity for students to develop their musical skills and to 17
enjoy a special camaraderie while learning the true value of 18
perseverance and cooperation. Over the years, the Ohio University 19
marching band has excelled in its endeavors, and all those who 20
have been involved with the program are to be commended for their 21
exemplary performances; and22

       WHEREAS,  Music is an integral component of our heritage, 23
helping people to communicate across national, cultural, and 24
social barriers, as well as uniting performers and audiences in a 25
meaningful, shared experience. The members of the Ohio University 26
marching band have imparted the richness and beauty of music to 27
citizens throughout the area, and they have set an example worthy 28
of emulation; therefore be it29

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the Senate of the 128th 30
General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud the 31
Ohio University marching band for exemplary achievement and extend 32
best wishes for the future; and be it further33

       RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 34
authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Ohio University 35
marching band.36
