A RESOLUTION
To recognize the importance of Ohio's county fairs 1
and to urge continued state support for those 2
fairs.3


BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

       WHEREAS, County fairs have played an integral part in the 4
lives of Ohio citizens for well over one hundred years; and5

       WHEREAS, In the past, county fairs served as an opportunity 6
for rural residents to socialize as well as share information and 7
ideas regarding agricultural activities; and8

       WHEREAS, County fairs have evolved since their early days. 9
Today's county fairs provide not only continued opportunities for 10
the display and exchange of agricultural information and ideas, 11
but also opportunities for children and youth to complete and 12
submit for display and judging projects on numerous scientific, 13
agricultural, and arts topics; and14

       WHEREAS, The value of today's county fairs to Ohio's 15
communities and its children and youth far outweighs the monetary 16
investment in the operation of the fairs. It is therefore 17
imperative that state support for county fairs continue as an 18
investment in the state's future; now therefore be it19

       RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 128th 20
General Assembly of the State of Ohio, recognize the importance of 21
Ohio's county fairs and urge continued state support for those 22
fairs; and be it further23

       RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit duly 24
authenticated copies of this resolution to the news media of Ohio.25
