A RESOLUTION
Honoring Evan Turner as the 2010 Associated Press 1
Player of the Year and the 2010 Naismith Award 2
recipient. 3

       WHEREAS,  The members of the Senate of the 128th General 4
Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Evan Turner on being 5
named the 2010 Player of the Year by The Associated Press and on 6
receiving the 2010 Naismith Award; and 7

       WHEREAS,  A junior at The Ohio State University, Evan Turner 8
has combined talent and competitive spirit with the highest ideals 9
of good sportsmanship to establish himself as a truly exceptional 10
athlete. With admirable dedication, he has worked diligently 11
toward attaining ultimate proficiency in basketball, and as a 12
result, he received AP Player of the Year honors and the Naismith 13
Award; and 14

       WHEREAS,  Evan Turner's accomplishments and leadership, both 15
in and out of competition, are a justifiable source of pride and a 16
fine reflection not only on him but also on his family, his 17
teammates, his coaches, his school, and his hometown. His 18
unwavering commitment to excellence has earned him these 19
prestigious distinctions, and he is certainly worthy of high 20
praise; and 21

       WHEREAS,  With athletic competition playing such an important 22
role in the total education of our young people, we are extremely 23
pleased to pay tribute to Evan Turner on an exemplary season. 24
Indeed, the same maturity and experience he has gained through his 25
participation in basketball will greatly aid him in meeting the 26
challenges of the future; therefore be it 27

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the Senate of the 128th 28
General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend 29
Evan Turner on his remarkable attainment and extend best wishes 30
for continued success; and be it further 31

       RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 32
authenticated copy of this Resolution to Evan Turner. 33
