A RESOLUTION
Honoring Jonathan McGookey as a 2009 Division II 1
State Wrestling Champion.2

       WHEREAS,  The members of the Senate of the 128th General 3
Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Jonathan McGookey on 4
winning the 2009 Division II State Wrestling Championship in the 5
152-pound weight class; and6

       WHEREAS,  A senior at Perkins High School, Jonathan McGookey 7
has combined talent and competitive spirit with the highest ideals 8
of good sportsmanship to establish himself as a truly exceptional 9
young athlete. With admirable dedication, he has worked diligently 10
to attain ultimate proficiency in wrestling, and as a result, he 11
won this year's Division II State Championship title in the 12
152-pound weight class, finished the season with an impressive 13
52-3 record, and was named Fandy.com Wrestler of the Year; and14

       WHEREAS,  Jonathan McGookey's accomplishments and leadership, 15
both in and out of athletic competition, are a justifiable source 16
of pride and a fine reflection not only on him but also on his 17
family, his teammates, his coaches, his school, and his community. 18
His unwavering commitment to excellence has earned him the respect 19
of many, and he is certainly worthy of high praise; and20

       WHEREAS,  With athletic competition playing such an important 21
role in the total education of our young people, we are extremely 22
pleased to pay tribute to Jonathan McGookey on an exemplary 23
season. Indeed, the same maturity and experience he has gained 24
through his participation in wrestling will greatly aid him in 25
meeting the challenges of the future; therefore be it26

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the Senate of the 128th 27
General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend 28
Jonathan McGookey as a 2009 Division II State Wrestling Champion 29
and extend best wishes for continued success; and be it further30

       RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 31
authenticated copy of this Resolution to Jonathan McGookey.32
