A RESOLUTION
Honoring the Ohio Judicial Center on being 1
rededicated in the name of the late Chief Justice 2
Thomas J. Moyer.3

       WHEREAS,  The members of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio 4
are pleased to congratulate the Ohio Judicial Center for being 5
renamed in honor of the late Thomas J. Moyer; and6

       WHEREAS,  Recognition of this special event is a fitting 7
tribute to the Ohio Judicial Center, for it has been invaluable to 8
the residents of our state. Owned by the Ohio Supreme Court, this 9
fine building houses both the court and its judicial offices, and 10
being renamed for its former chief justice, Thomas Moyer, is a 11
justifiable source of pride and an excellent reflection on his 12
family, on the Court, and on the entire State of Ohio; and 13

       WHEREAS,  Thomas Moyer was a remarkable individual, for he 14
combined civic concern and commitment with selfless initiative to 15
become a respected leader in Ohio. Among his noteworthy endeavors, 16
he served as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Ohio for more 17
than twenty-three years, and during his tenure, he was 18
instrumental in restoring and transforming the Ohio Departments 19
Building into the Ohio Judicial Center. Through his unwavering 20
dedication to excellence, he certainly distinguished himself as a 21
conscientious and hard-working Ohioan, and his exceptional record 22
of personal and professional achievement stands as a hallmark 23
worthy of emulation; and24

       WHEREAS,  Over the years, the Ohio Judicial Center has 25
enhanced the quality of life in our society, and it has earned a 26
prominent place in Ohio history. This well-known structure has 27
come to represent law and justice in our state, and we are certain 28
that in the years to come, it will continue to be a symbol of the 29
tenets of Ohio's judicial system; therefore be it30

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the 129th General Assembly 31
of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the Ohio Judicial 32
Center on its renaming and salute all those participating in this 33
memorable event; and be it further34

       RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the House of Representatives 35
transmit duly authenticated copies of this Resolution to the 36
Supreme Court of Ohio and to the family of the late Chief Justice 37
Thomas J. Moyer.38
