Honoring Dr. Mark H. Erickson on his retirement from Wittenberg University. |
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to Dr. Mark H. Erickson on the occasion of his retirement as president of Wittenberg University; and |
WHEREAS, Throughout his distinguished career in education, Mark Erickson has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to performing his duties and fulfilling his responsibilities with the utmost efficiency and competence. As president of Wittenberg University from 2005 to 2012, he has been instrumental in increasing enrollment, in creating and implementing the school's strategic plan, new entrepreneurship program, a Mellon/U.S. Department of State-funded Languages Across the Curriculum initiative, a Screenwriters Institute, and new majors in international relations and financial economics and minors in sports management and neuroscience, and in establishing the Hagen Center for Civic and Urban Engagement, the Wittenberg, Germany, program, the East Asian Institute, and a partnership with the Springfield Rotary Club to expand the university's services to orphans in Lesotho; and |
WHEREAS, Mark Erickson is, indeed, a remarkable individual, combining civic concern and commitment with selfless initiative to become a dynamic leader in the community, and he has embraced Wittenberg University's motto, "Having Light We Pass It On To Others." Always sincere and energetic in his approach to his work, he has given generously of his time and abilities far beyond what was required or expected and has displayed a genuine commitment to this outstanding institute of higher learning; and |
WHEREAS, The enthusiasm and expertise Mark Erickson has shown in his endeavors have earned him the respect of all those with whom he has worked. As he retires, he has the satisfaction of knowing that he has provided a vital service to the community and has established a record of personal and professional achievement that will stand as a hallmark for others to emulate; therefore be it |
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate Dr. Mark H. Erickson on his retirement as president of Wittenberg University and salute him as one of Ohio's finest citizens; and be it further |
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Dr. Mark H. Erickson. |
