| Honoring The Ohio State University on the Ninetieth Anniversary of Ohio Stadium. |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate The Ohio State University on the memorable occasion of the Ninetieth Anniversary of Ohio Stadium; and |
| WHEREAS, Recognition of this prestigious milestone is a fitting tribute to The Ohio State University. Created by architect Howard Dwight Smith, Ohio Stadium was completed in 1922, and its double-deck horseshoe design makes it one of the most unique and exciting venues in all of collegiate athletics. The home field for Ohio State football games, the stadium has been expanded from its original seating capacity of 66,210 to its current capacity, after a complete renovation in 2001, of 102,329, and it has also been the site of various other events, including the first three seasons of home games for Columbus Crew soccer and several summer music concerts. The facility is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and its anniversary is a justifiable source of pride and a fine reflection on the university and on the entire Columbus community; and |
| WHEREAS, In an educational system that seeks to teach the future leaders of our state and nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and the rewards of individual and group effort, athletic competition has become a valuable educational tool, and Ohio Stadium has been a valuable part of The Ohio State University's record of sporting eminence. The Ninetieth Anniversary of this arena is, indeed, noteworthy; and |
| WHEREAS, Since its inception, Ohio Stadium has enhanced the quality of life within the surrounding area, and it has earned the gratitude and respect of many sports enthusiasts throughout the country. We are certain that as this worthy facility maintains its unfaltering dedication to service, it will continue in the tradition of excellence that has long been the hallmark of The Ohio State University; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud The Ohio State University on the Ninetieth Anniversary of Ohio Stadium and extend best wishes for ongoing success; and be it further |
