A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
To urge the President of the United States to halt 1
the Environmental Protection Agency's costly and 2
harmful pursuit of regulations that restrict fuel 3
diversity for electricity generation and to pursue 4
new fuel diversity policies.5

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO
(THE SENATE CONCURRING):

WHEREAS, America's and Ohio's businesses, homes, hospitals, 6
schools, and government functions all rely on affordable, reliable 7
electricity generated using a variety of fuels such as coal, 8
natural gas, nuclear, and other sources, and this diversity keeps 9
energy prices low and reliability high; and10

WHEREAS, Advanced technology is leading the way to cleaner 11
use of all available fuels, including coal, which burns cleaner 12
than ever and new technologies are on the horizon that will allow 13
coal to burn with virtually no carbon dioxide emissions; and14

WHEREAS, Coal represents the most abundant source of energy 15
in the United States with a 250-year supply within our borders; 16
and17

WHEREAS, Coal generates 43% of the nation's power and nearly 18
80% of Ohio's power; and19

WHEREAS, The coal industry provides for hundreds of thousands 20
of good paying jobs in Ohio and elsewhere; and21

WHEREAS, Maintaining coal-fired generation is a key to 22
keeping electricity abundant and its cost low; and 23

WHEREAS, The United States Environmental Protection Agency's 24
(EPA) proposed greenhouse gas new source performance standard for 25
fossil fuel-fired electric generating units jeopardizes the 26
diversity of fuels used for power generation, thereby putting 27
price and reliability at risk; now therefore be it28

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the 130th General Assembly 29
of the State of Ohio, support continued use of a diverse portfolio 30
for electricity generation both in Ohio and in the United States; 31
and be it further32

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the 130th General Assembly 33
of the State of Ohio, support continued development of coal-based 34
power in the United States; and be it further 35

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the 130th General Assembly 36
of the State of Ohio, urge the President of the United States to 37
halt the EPA's costly and harmful pursuit of regulations that 38
restrict fuel diversity for electricity generation and to pursue 39
new fuel diversity policies; and be it further 40

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives 41
transmit duly authenticated copies of this resolution to the 42
President of the United States, the Administrator of the 43
