A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
To designate the week including September 11 and 1
September 17 each year as Patriot Week to 2
encourage Ohioans to renew their appreciation of 3
and reverence for the United States.4


BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO
(THE SENATE CONCURRING):


       WHEREAS, Focus on the founding principles and shared history 5
of the United States will renew the spirit of its people; and6

       WHEREAS, Celebration of the founding fathers and other 7
patriots of the United States will exalt its people; and8

       WHEREAS, Reverence for documents vital to the creation of the 9
United States will encourage its people; and10

       WHEREAS, Remembrance of influential speeches that helped to 11
mold the United States will inspire its people; and12

       WHEREAS, Recognizing flags of United States history that 13
signify principles and values dear to the United States will 14
motivate its people; and15

       WHEREAS, The anniversary of the terrorist attacks on 16
September 11 and the anniversary of the signing of the 17
Constitution of the United States on September 17 remind us that 18
the founding principles of this nation will always and forever be 19
relevant to its people, and will serve as the anchors of Patriot 20
Week; now therefore be it21

       RESOLVED, That the General Assembly designates the week 22
including September 11 and September 17 each year as Patriot Week 23
to encourage Ohioans to renew their appreciation of and reverence 24
for the United States; and be it further25

       RESOLVED, That the General Assembly, encourages public and 26
private entities in this state to recognize and participate in 27
Patriot Week; and be it further28

       RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives 29
transmit duly authenticated copies of this resolution to the 30
Governor and to the news media of Ohio.31
