A RESOLUTION
Honoring Dr. E. Gordon Gee for service to The Ohio State University.

       WHEREAS,  The members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to Dr. E. Gordon Gee on his retirement as president and chief executive officer of The Ohio State University; and

       WHEREAS,  Throughout Gordon Gee's distinguished professional career, he has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the academic community by fulfilling his responsibilities with the utmost integrity and competence. The president and chief executive officer of The Ohio State University's six campuses since 2007, he has brought to his position a wealth of experience gained as a past president of OSU, associate professor, professor, and associate dean at Brigham Young University's J. Reuben Clark Law School, dean of the West Virginia University Law School, and president of West Virginia University, the University of Colorado, Brown University, and Vanderbilt University, and he has been active in numerous endeavors, including the Big Ten Conference Council of Presidents, the American Association of Universities, the JobsOhio Board of Directors, and the Ohio Higher Education Capital Funding Collaborative and Funding Commission. He has inspired students to strive to reach their highest ambitions and has awakened in them an appreciation for education that they will carry with them throughout their lives; and 

       WHEREAS,   Gordon Gee's unstinting contributions of time, talent, and seemingly inexhaustible energy to his students over the years have earned him the respect and admiration of everyone with whom he has been associated. It is only fitting that someone with his dedication and perseverance be recognized for the contributions he has made, again and again, to The Ohio State University; and

       WHEREAS,  Always sincere and energetic in his approach to his work, Gordon Gee has given freely of his abilities far beyond what was required or expected and has displayed a genuine commitment to achieving his goals in a skillful and professional manner. He has the satisfaction of knowing that he has provided a vital service to The Ohio State University and that his career will stand as a hallmark for others to emulate; therefore be it

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Dr. E. Gordon Gee on his outstanding service to The Ohio State University; and be it further

       RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Dr. E. Gordon Gee.
