A RESOLUTION
Honoring Dr. Steven Reece, Sr., for his contributions to the 1994 meeting and 1995 compact between black and white Masons.

       WHEREAS,  The members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to Dr. Steven Reece, Sr., for helping to organize the historic 1994 meeting creating mutual recognition between black and white Masons; and

       WHEREAS,  Steven Reece is, indeed, a remarkable individual, for he has demonstrated an unwavering devotion to upholding the noteworthy ideals of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Prince Hall Affiliation. While serving as the 1993-1995 Most Worshipful Grand Master of the State of Ohio, he and Carl Lindner, Jr., together with such organizers as James Olmstead, initiated a national meeting in Cincinnati on December 4, 1994, to create mutual recognition among black and white Masons, and this summit led to a formal compact in 1995, allowing them to visit each other's lodges and work together on projects and programs; and 

       WHEREAS,  Steven Reece has combined civic concern and dedication to become a dynamic Masonic leader. Over the years, he has established himself as an outstanding member through his loyal service and attendance, as well as through his unique talents and abilities, and we applaud him on his tremendous efforts; and

       WHEREAS,  Willingly giving of his time, energy, and abilities, Steven Reece has striven to better the world around him, and his generous contributions have earned him the respect and esteem of many. He is truly deserving of high praise for the personal commitment he has made to this exceptional organization; therefore be it

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Dr. Steven Reece, Sr., on his exemplary work and salute him as one of Ohio's finest citizens; and be it further

       RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Dr. Steven Reece, Sr.
