A RESOLUTION
Honoring Joe Hallett on his retirement from The Columbus Dispatch.

       WHEREAS,  The members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to Joe Hallett on the memorable occasion of his retirement as the senior editor of The Columbus Dispatch; and

       WHEREAS,  Throughout his distinguished career in journalism, Joe Hallett has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to performing his duties and fulfilling his responsibilities with the utmost efficiency and competence. Commencing his tenure as the editor of the Fulton County Expositor, he served as a reporter for The Blade for fifteen years, including eleven years as chief of its Columbus bureau, and as the chief political writer and Statehouse reporter for The Plain Dealer for three years before becoming the politics editor for The Columbus Dispatch in 1999, and he most recently served that publication as the senior editor while remaining a political reporter and columnist. Over the years, he has received numerous honors and awards, including being named one of America's eight best political reporters by Brill's Content in 2000 and Ohio's best political writer by The Associated Press and the Society of Professional Journalists in 2010, and we applaud him on his tremendous work; and 

       WHEREAS,  Joe Hallett is, indeed, a remarkable individual, combining civic concern with selfless initiative to become a dynamic leader in his field. Always sincere and energetic in his approach to his work, he has given generously of his time and abilities far beyond what was required or expected and has displayed a genuine commitment to improving the quality of life in our society; and

       WHEREAS,  The enthusiasm and expertise Joe Hallett has shown in his endeavors have earned him the respect of all those with whom he has been associated. As he retires, he has the satisfaction of knowing that he has provided a valuable service to the community and state and has established a record of personal and professional achievement that will stand as a hallmark for others to emulate; therefore be it

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate Joe Hallett on his retirement and salute him as one of Ohio's finest citizens; and be it further

       RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Joe Hallett.
