| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the Columbus Africentric Early College girls basketball team on winning the 2014 Division III State Championship; and |
| WHEREAS, Each member of the Columbus Africentric Early College girls basketball team is an excellent young athlete, and Coach Will McKinney has demonstrated remarkable energy, enthusiasm, and dedication in guiding this squad to victory. This season, the Nubians bested the team from Versailles High School to secure the Division III State Championship, their third consecutive state championship. The unwavering commitment of the members and their coach has earned them this prestigious distinction, and they are certainly deserving of high praise; and |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Columbus Africentric Early College girls basketball team have established themselves as a truly exceptional team, and they have emerged as winners both in and out of athletic competition. Will McKinney's skill as a coach is reflected in their outstanding success, and due largely to his tireless efforts, he has earned the respect and admiration of all who know him; and |
| WHEREAS, In an educational system that seeks to teach the future leaders of our state and nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and the rewards of individual and group effort, athletic competition has become a valuable educational tool. Through their participation in sports, the members of the Columbus Africentric Early College girls basketball team have learned lessons of discipline, perseverance, hard work, and good sportsmanship that will undoubtedly be of great benefit to them throughout their lives; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the Columbus Africentric Early College girls basketball team on its tremendous season and salute all those who contributed to the success of this fine team; and be it further |
