| Honoring Dr. Ann Schiele on her retirement as president and dean of the Mount Carmel College of Nursing. |
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to Dr. Ann Schiele on the memorable occasion of her retirement as president and dean of the Mount Carmel College of Nursing and on being granted president emeritus status, July 31, 2014; and |
| WHEREAS, Throughout her distinguished fifty-year career, Ann Schiele has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to performing her duties and fulfilling her responsibilities with the utmost efficiency and competence. Previously serving the Mount Carmel School of Nursing as a nurse, faculty member, and director, she was instrumental in changing the institution from a nursing diploma program to the degree granting Mount Carmel College of Nursing, and she was named its first president and dean in 1990. Under her astute guidance, the college has become one of the largest accredited nursing programs in the State of Ohio, offering undergraduate and graduate programs, both on campus and online, to more than 1,150 students; and |
| WHEREAS, Ann Schiele is a remarkable individual, for she has combined civic concern with selfless initiative to become a dynamic leader in the community. Active with such organizations as the YWCA of Columbus, The Catholic Foundation, and Lower Lights Christian Health Center, she has always been sincere and energetic in her approach to her work, and she has given generously of her time and abilities far beyond what was required or expected. Indeed, she has displayed a genuine commitment to improving the quality of life in our society; and |
| WHEREAS, The enthusiasm and expertise Ann Schiele has shown in her endeavors have earned her the respect of all those with whom she has been associated. As she retires, she has the satisfaction of knowing that she has provided a valuable service to the community and has established a record of personal and professional achievement that will stand as a hallmark for others to emulate; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate Dr. Ann Schiele on her retirement and salute her as one of Ohio's finest citizens; and be it further |
