| Honoring the Center of Science and Industry on its Fiftieth Anniversary. |
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to the Center of Science and Industry on the celebration of its Fiftieth Anniversary, March 29, 2014; and |
| WHEREAS, This is an important milestone, and congratulations are certainly in order. Since opening its doors five decades ago, COSI has been one of the City of Columbus' most beloved institutions of learning, and it has effectively responded to an array of local educational needs by introducing countless youngsters to the benefits of knowledge and exploration; and |
| WHEREAS, Established in 1964, COSI moved to its current location in 1999. Known for its staple items, including the Foucault pendulum, the Spectrum Tree, and the Street of Yesteryear, the museum has also hosted such exhibits as the Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition, Lost Egypt: Ancient Secrets, Modern Science, and Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination, and we are proud to note that it is through efforts of institutions such as this that the State of Ohio remains a pleasant place in which to live; and |
| WHEREAS, All those associated with COSI are to be commended for their foresight, dedication, and selfless donations of time, energy, and ability far beyond what was required or expected. These fine people have gained the esteem and admiration of the entire community and have set an example of concerned and responsible citizenship worthy of emulation; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, salute the Center of Science and Industry on its Fiftieth Anniversary and extend best wishes for the future; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Center of Science and Industry. |
