A RESOLUTION
Honoring Margo Geer on winning the 2014 NCAA 100-yard Freestyle Swimming Championship.

       WHEREAS,  The members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to commend Margo Geer as the 2014 National Collegiate Athletic Association Champion in the 100-yard freestyle event; and

       WHEREAS,  A diligent and capable individual, Margo Geer is deserving of recognition for her exceptional accomplishments as a senior member of the University of Arizona women's swim team. At this year's NCAA Championships, she placed first in the 100-yard freestyle race with a time of 47.10 seconds, claiming her second consecutive national championship in that event, and helped the Wildcats place second in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:10.99, and her noteworthy record of personal achievement stands as a hallmark for others; and 

       WHEREAS,  Through her participation in sports, Margo Geer has learned important lessons of discipline, perseverance, hard work, and good sportsmanship that will undoubtedly be of great benefit to her throughout her life. Through her exemplary efforts, she has inspired countless individuals to excel in various areas of endeavor, and she has set an example worthy of emulation; and

       WHEREAS,  In a society that seeks to teach the future leaders of our state and nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and the rewards of individual and group effort, athletic competition has become a valuable educational tool. With athletics playing such an important part in the development of our young people, we are extremely pleased to pay tribute to such a fine athlete as Margo Geer; therefore be it

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Margo Geer as the 2014 NCAA 100-yard Freestyle Swimming Champion and salute her as an outstanding citizen; and be it further

       RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Margo Geer.
