| Schmidt's 100th anniversary at the Ohio State | 3 |

| WHEREAS, The Schmidt brand has been an integral part of | 5 |
| Central Ohio since 1886 when Schmidt's first opened as a packing | 6 |
| house; and | 7 |
| WHEREAS, Schmidt's is the oldest privately owned vendor at | 8 |
| any fair in the United States and the oldest food vendor at the | 9 |
| Ohio State Fair; and | 10 |
| WHEREAS, The Schmidt family and brand will be celebrating | 11 |
| their centennial anniversary as part of the Ohio State Fair this | 12 |
| summer; and | 13 |
| WHEREAS, Schmidt's has been a proud participant in the Sale | 14 |
| of Champions for numerous years at the Ohio State Fair. The | 15 |
| All-Ohio State Fair Band has visited Schmidt's Sausage Haus on the | 16 |
| fairgrounds to play a birthday tribute to George Schmidt for | 17 |
| nearly 80 years and continues this tradition for John Schmidt; and | 18 |
| WHEREAS, Hundreds of thousands of hungry Ohioans have enjoyed | 19 |
| Schmidt's signature sausage, the Bahama Mama; and | 20 |
| WHEREAS, There are many wonderful sausages in Ohio, but only | 21 |
| one Bahama Mama with its delicate blend of spices; now therefore | 22 |
| be it | 23 |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of | 24 |
| Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of the State of | 25 |
| Ohio, in adopting this resolution, designate Schmidt's Bahama Mama | 26 |
| sausage as the official sausage of Ohio in recognition of | 27 |
| Schmidt's 100th anniversary at the Ohio State Fair; and be it | 28 |
| further | 29 |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives | 30 |
| transmit duly authenticated copies of this resolution to the | 31 |
| Schmidt family in Columbus and the news media of Ohio. | 32 |
