Recognizing National POW/MIA Recognition Day, September 19, 2014. |
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to recognize September 19, 2014, as National POW/MIA Recognition Day; and |
WHEREAS, In 1994, the U.S. Congress designated the third Friday of September each year as National POW/MIA Recognition Day to ensure that America's prisoners of war and missing in action are never forgotten. This observance is an appropriate time to pay tribute to those individuals who have answered this nation's call to arms and who have made great sacrifices to protect the interests of the United States of America and our allies; and |
WHEREAS, America's prisoners of war and missing in action have effectively combined courage with tremendous strength during their loyal service in our country's armed forces and have demonstrated an unwavering dedication to fulfilling their myriad duties with the utmost efficiency and competence. In numerous areas of endeavor, they have certainly distinguished themselves as patriotic and hard-working individuals who are truly deserving of high praise; and |
WHEREAS, The heroic traditions of our armed forces are an important part of our country's heritage. By giving willingly of their time, energy, and abilities to protect our nation, our service men and women have earned the respect and admiration of all those with whom they have served and the gratitude of Americans everywhere; therefore be it |
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, recognize September 19, 2014, as National POW/MIA Recognition Day and urge all Ohioans to participate in this observance; and be it further |
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit duly authenticated copies of this Resolution to the news media of Ohio. |
