A RESOLUTION
Honoring the Salvation Army of Lima on its One Hundred Twenty-fifth Anniversary.

       WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pleased to pay tribute to the Salvation Army of Lima as it celebrates One Hundred Twenty-five years of service, May 5, 2013; and

       WHEREAS, This is, indeed, an important occasion, and it provides an ideal time to acknowledge the exceptional work done by the Salvation Army of Lima. Founded in 1867 by William Booth as The Christian Mission in London, England, the Salvation Army migrated to the United States in 1885 and established presences in Philadelphia and Cincinnati before reaching Lima in 1888, and over the years, it has engaged in an array of worthwhile activities and projects that have met a number of local needs. This ministry's impressive contributions to those less fortunate readily explain why it is so widely held in high esteem; and

       WHEREAS, All those associated with the Salvation Army of Lima are to be commended for their foresight, dedication, and selfless donations of time, energy, and ability far beyond what was required or expected. These exemplary people have earned the respect and admiration of many and have set an example of concerned and responsible citizenship worthy of emulation; and

       WHEREAS, The Salvation Army of Lima has enhanced the quality of life within the surrounding area. We are certain that as the fine individuals associated with the group maintain their dedication to service, they will continue in the tradition of excellence that has been the hallmark of the Salvation Army since its establishment; therefore be it

       RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate the Salvation Army of Lima on its One Hundred Twenty-fifth Anniversary and extend best wishes for ongoing success; and be it further

       RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Salvation Army of Lima.
