Honoring the City of Columbus as the Most Intelligent City in America for 2013. |
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the City of Columbus on being named the Most Intelligent City in America and one of the top seven in the world for 2013 by the Intelligent Communities Forum; and |
WHEREAS, These prestigious distinctions are a fitting tribute to the City of Columbus, for it has been recognized for its use of technology and its innovation and collaboration among colleges and universities, businesses, and government. These accomplishments are a justifiable source of pride and an excellent reflection not only on the city itself but also on its residents, for their efforts have certainly made the area a pleasant and friendly place in which to live and work; and |
WHEREAS, The City of Columbus has enjoyed the benefits of a generous and civic-minded population, and those who currently make it their home take great pride in its rich heritage. These special honors offer local citizens the opportunity to share their memories and experiences and to reflect on the benefits of life in their close-knit community, for they have built on the best traditions of the past to ensure a future filled with hope and promise; and |
WHEREAS, America is only as strong as her individual communities, which are unique and which make a significant contribution to the culture of our state and nation. Throughout its history, the City of Columbus has become known for its residents' cooperation, integrity, and willingness to work hard--exemplary qualities that are still manifested by its citizens today; therefore be it |
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud the City of Columbus on its recent accolades and extend best wishes for continued success; and be it further |
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the City of Columbus. |
