| Honoring Muirfield Village Golf Club on hosting the 2013 Presidents Cup. |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Muirfield Village Golf Club on being selected to host The Presidents Cup, October 1-6, 2013; and |
| WHEREAS, This prestigious honor is a fitting tribute to Muirfield Village Golf Club for its tremendous contributions to the game of golf. Opened in 1974, the club was designed by Jack Nicklaus not only to challenge the world's top players but also to provide an exceptional spectator experience, and it has been consistently ranked among the top twenty courses in the United States and the top fifty courses in the world. The home of the Memorial Tournament since 1976, it has also hosted many premier golf events, including the United States Amateur and Junior Amateur championships, the Wendy's Three-Tour Challenge, the Ryder Cup, and the Solheim Cup, and it now becomes the third venue in the country to host The Presidents Cup, a biennial match play competition featuring twelve of the best U.S. players versus twelve of the best non-European international players that raises funds for charities around the globe; and |
| WHEREAS, The accomplishments of Muirfield Village Golf Club are a justifiable source of pride and an outstanding reflection not only on the course itself but also on its founder, Jack Nicklaus, and on its astute management and hard-working employees. Due to their vision and initiative, this respected facility has earned the gratitude and appreciation of many, and it is truly deserving of high praise; and |
| WHEREAS, Over the years, Muirfield Village Golf Club has enhanced the quality of life within the surrounding area. We are certain that as this worthy enterprise maintains its unfaltering dedication to service and achievement, it will continue to prosper and will uphold the tradition of excellence that has long been its hallmark; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Muirfield Village Golf Club on hosting the 2013 Presidents Cup and extend best wishes for the future; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Muirfield Village Golf Club. |
