A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the Honorable Richard H. Finan for forty years of state service.

       WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to commend the Honorable Richard H. Finan on forty years of outstanding public service; and

       WHEREAS, Richard Finan is deserving of high praise, for he has combined civic concern and dedication with selfless initiative to become a dynamic leader in the State of Ohio. An attorney in private practice and a former mayor of the Village of Evendale, he served District 19 in the Ohio House of Representatives from 1973 to 1978 and District 7 in the Ohio Senate from 1978 through 2002, and with the latter, he held the posts of chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, president pro tempore, and president. In addition, he has served as chairman of the Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board since 1989, and throughout his tenure, he has ably fulfilled his myriad responsibilities and demonstrated an exceptional devotion to serving his community. A talented and hard-working individual, Richard Finan has made many significant contributions to the state's growth and development, and he has clearly demonstrated the potential of each person to have a positive effect on the quality of life in our society; and

       WHEREAS, Election to public office is one of the highest honors the people in a democracy can bestow upon a fellow citizen. We are proud to note that it is through the unsurpassed efforts and deep commitment of conscientious individuals such as Richard Finan that the State of Ohio continues to prosper and remains responsive to the diverse needs of its residents; and

       WHEREAS, By approaching difficult decisions and shouldering responsibilities with confidence, Richard Finan has earned the respect and admiration of all those with whom he has worked. Over the years, he has been active with numerous organizations, including the Cincinnati Observatory Center Board, the Rest Haven Cemetery Association, the Warren County Arts and Culture Center, the Trust for Democracy, the Government Cooperation and Efficiency Project, the Hamilton County Planning Partners, the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame, the Cincinnati Bar Association, and the Ohio Cemetery, National Conference of State Legislatures, and Capitol Square foundations, and he has the satisfaction of knowing that his record of personal achievement will stand as a hallmark for others to emulate; therefore be it

       RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, pay tribute to the Honorable Richard H. Finan on his exemplary state service and salute him as a fine Ohioan; and be it further

       RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Honorable Richard H. Finan.
